Barcelona Taxi Aeropuerto is a licensed private transfer service based in Barcelona. We drive passengers from El Prat airport to the city, the cruise terminals, the Costa Brava, the Costa Dorada, Girona, Tarragona and villages across Catalonia — and back again, at whatever hour the flight leaves.

Everything we do rests on one simple idea: you should know the price before you get in the car. Every transfer is quoted as a fixed total for the whole vehicle, including tolls and luggage, and confirmed in writing on WhatsApp before you travel. There is no meter running on the motorway and no surcharge appearing at the end.

Our cars carry Institut Metropolità del Taxi licences and the licence number is displayed inside every vehicle. Drivers are professional, insured, and speak Spanish, Catalan and English. Flights, not schedules

Give us a flight number and we track it. If you land ninety minutes late, your driver is there ninety minutes later and the price does not move. One hour of waiting after landing is included as standard, and more by arrangement for connections you are worried about.

The whole of Catalonia

A large part of our work is long distance: coves on the Costa Brava reached by one narrow road, masias with no postal address, wedding venues in the Empordà, ski transfers to Andorra. Send a Google Maps pin and we will find it. These are the journeys where a pre-booked car stops being a convenience and becomes the only sensible way to arrive.

Andorra is three hours from Barcelona Airport, up the C-16 through the Túnel del Cadí and over into the principality at La Farga de Moles. It is the standard arrival route for the ski season — Grandvalira, Vallnord and Pal Arinsal are all served, along with the hotels in Andorra la Vella, Escaldes, Soldeu and Pas de la Casa.

In winter the road over the last stretch can carry snow, and conditions change quickly. We watch the forecast for the pass and will tell you honestly if a departure needs moving. Ski and board carriage is not a problem, but it does need the right vehicle — say how many sets of equipment you have when you request the fare so we send a van rather than a saloon.

Andorra is not in the EU customs union, so there is a border check on the way in and, more often, a customs check on the way back with limits on tobacco, alcohol and electronics. Nothing dramatic, but the queue on a Sunday afternoon in season can be long, and we build that into the timing when you have a flight to catch.

The run from El Prat into the centre is the journey we drive most often. It takes about twenty minutes on the C-32 outside rush hour, a little longer between 8 and 10 in the morning when the Gran Via backs up. We watch the traffic before we set off and take the Ronda Litoral instead when the motorway is heavy — the price does not change either way.

The Aerobús and the L9 metro are cheaper if you are travelling light. With two suitcases, a pushchair or a 6 a.m. flight they stop being cheaper in any way that matters: the L9 needs a change at Collblanc or Torrassa, and the Aerobús leaves you at Plaça Catalunya with a walk or a second taxi at the end of it. We take you to the door of the building.

Most central hotels are a straightforward drop-off. The exceptions are the Gothic Quarter and parts of El Born, where the streets are pedestrianised — we get as close as the car is allowed and it is normally a walk of a minute or two. If you send the hotel name when you book, we will tell you in advance exactly where we can stop.

Begur sits inland on a hill under a ruined castle, with its beaches scattered below in separate coves — Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Aiguablava, Fornells. Each is reached by its own steep, narrow road down from the town, and they do not connect to one another along the shore. Knowing which cove you are staying at matters more here than in most places.

This is villa country. A great many of the houses rented around Begur sit on unmarked lanes in the pine woods with no usable postal address, and taxi drivers who do not know the area lose a lot of time. Send the Google Maps pin from your rental confirmation when you book and the driver will go straight to the gate.

The journey is about an hour and fifty minutes, up the AP-7 and across through Palafrugell. In August the final descent to Aiguablava and Sa Tuna can be slow — those roads are single track in places with passing bays, and there is no way to hurry them.

Cadaqués is the furthest coastal village we drive to regularly and the most isolated. There is one road in — the GI-614 over the Serra de Rodes from Roses — and it climbs and twists for the last twenty minutes over the Pení pass before dropping into the bay. That road is the reason the village never got developed, and the reason a transfer here needs a driver who has done it before.

The whole journey is about two and a quarter hours: AP-7 north past Girona and Figueres, then the C-260 to Roses and up over the pass. There is no railway. The bus from Barcelona takes the best part of three hours and runs a handful of times a day, so if you land in the evening a car is usually the only way to arrive the same night.

Portlligat, where Dalí's house stands, is a fifteen-minute walk or a two-minute drive north of the village — we can drop you there directly. Parking inside Cadaqués is genuinely difficult in summer, which is one reason a lot of visitors who have driven it once choose to be driven the next time.

Calella de Palafrugell is the postcard the Costa Brava sells itself with — white arcades along the water at Port Bo, fishing boats pulled up on the shingle, and no high-rise anywhere. It is about an hour forty-five from the airport, up the AP-7 to Girona Sud and across on the C-66 through Palafrugell.

There is no train anywhere near, and the bus involves a change at Girona or Palafrugell with a long wait between connections. This stretch of coast is where a direct transfer stops being a luxury and becomes the sensible option, particularly if you land in the evening.

Cap Roig botanical gardens sit on the headland just south, and the summer festival there draws people from all over Catalonia — if you are going for a concert, book the return leg at the same time, because taxis are extremely scarce when a show turns out at midnight. The camí de ronda footpath links Calella to Llafranc in about twenty minutes on foot along the cliff.

Barcelona has several cruise berths and they are not close together. Moll Adossat holds terminals A, B, C, D and E and sits at the far end of a long breakwater — you cannot walk to it and taxis are the only way in for most passengers. The World Trade Center terminals sit much closer to Colom and the bottom of La Rambla. Getting the wrong one costs twenty minutes you may not have.

Send the ship name when you book. We check which berth your line uses on that date and take you to the right terminal building, not just to the port gate. On the way back we do the same in reverse and time the pickup against your disembarkation slot rather than the ship's arrival time — those are usually an hour or more apart.

Turnaround days are busy at Moll Adossat, with several ships loading at once. We build that into the pickup time we agree with you, and if your flight is a tight one after disembarkation we will say so honestly rather than let you find out at the terminal.

Girona is two destinations that share a name. Girona Airport (GRO) sits 12 km south of the city at Vilobí d'Onyar and handles most of the low-cost traffic; Girona city is the medieval one, with the Jewish quarter, the cathedral staircase that Game of Thrones filmed on, and the painted houses along the Onyar. We drive to both, and it is worth telling us which you mean.

For the city, the drive is about an hour twenty up the AP-7. The old town is largely pedestrian, so we drop at the closest vehicle access — usually on Carrer de Santa Clara or near Plaça Catalunya — from which most hotels inside the Call are three or four minutes on foot. Some of those streets are stepped, so if you have heavy cases, say so and we will pick the best drop point.

Airport-to-airport transfers between El Prat and Girona are a large part of what we do here — travellers who fly into one and out of the other, or whose Girona flight is cancelled and need to reach Barcelona the same night. We quote that as a fixed total whatever the hour.

Lloret is the busiest single destination we drive on the Costa Brava. The route runs up the AP-7 to exit 9 at Lloret–Blanes, then the GI-600 over the hill into town — about seventy-five minutes from the airport if the motorway is clear, closer to ninety on a July Saturday when everyone is arriving at once.

The alternative is a bus transfer, which is cheaper per person but stops at seven or eight hotels before yours and can add ninety minutes to an already long travel day. For two people the price gap is small; for four it usually disappears entirely, and you go directly.

Hotels along the seafront on Passeig Jacint Verdaguer and Carrer de la Vila are easy drop-offs. The apartments up behind Fenals and towards Santa Cristina are on steep, narrow streets where a location pin helps a lot — send one from WhatsApp and the driver goes straight there rather than circling.

The stone villages of the Baix Empordà are close together on the map and almost impossible to link by public transport. Peratallada, Pals, Monells, Madremanya and Ullastret sit within twenty minutes of each other; Besalú with its eleventh-century bridge is further north near Olot; Púbol, where Dalí bought his wife a castle, is between them. Between any two, the bus timetable ranges from awkward to non-existent.

Most people book this as a transfer to one village where they are staying, or as a day with the car and driver kept for several hours. The second works well: three or four villages in a day, with the car waiting while you walk and eat, and no parking to find in places where parking is scarce and the streets are cobbled.

If you are staying in one of the restored farmhouses — a masia — the address will usually be a name and a road number rather than a street. Send the pin. We reach a lot of these houses and the ones with no signage are exactly where a driver without local knowledge loses half an hour.

Montserrat is an hour from the airport and about the same from the city — a Benedictine monastery wedged into a mountain of extraordinary rounded rock pillars, with the Black Madonna, the Escolania boys' choir, and walking trails running off along the ridge. It is the most common single day trip out of Barcelona.

The standard public route involves a train from Plaça Espanya then either the rack railway or the cable car up. It works, but it is a long half-day of connections and the last returns leave earlier than people expect. With a car and driver you go directly to the monastery car park and come back when you are ready.

Most people book this with waiting time — three to four hours covers the basilica, the museum and a walk, or longer if you want the funicular up to Sant Joan and one of the ridge paths. The choir normally sings at 1 p.m. on weekdays; if you want to hear it, tell us and we will time the departure to get you there in good time.

Getting a taxi in Barcelona with an animal is unpredictable. Officially a driver may refuse any pet that is not a guide dog, and on a rainy evening with a wet labrador that refusal comes often. Booking ahead removes the question entirely: we know an animal is travelling before the car is assigned, and the driver who comes is one who is happy to carry it.

Small pets travel in a carrier on the seat or in the footwell. Medium and large dogs travel in the back on a blanket we bring, or in the V-Class where there is proper floor space behind the seats. Cats stay in the carrier throughout — every vet will tell you the same, and a cat loose in a moving car is genuinely dangerous.

The three journeys we do most are the airport, the vet, and the coast in summer. Airport runs need the most planning: tell us the airline and whether the animal flies in the cabin or as hold baggage, because the drop-off point at T1 differs and the animal reception desk is not where passengers check in. For emergency vet trips at three in the morning, just call — we will not ask you to fill anything in.

PortAventura World is three parks — the main theme park, Ferrari Land and the Caribe Aquatic Park — with six resort hotels inside the complex. It is about eighty minutes from Barcelona Airport, exit 35 off the AP-7 at Salou–Vila-seca.

The detail that matters is the drop-off. The resort hotels each have their own entrance inside the complex, and being left at the main park gate with suitcases and tired children is a long walk from where you are actually staying. Tell us the hotel name and we take you to its door.

Families are the whole of this route, so think about luggage before you book the vehicle. Four people with four large cases fit a saloon. Add a pushchair, a travel cot or a fifth person and it needs the V-Class. We would rather ask the question in advance than have you standing at arrivals looking at a boot that will not close.

Roses sits at the top of its own wide bay with a long sandy beach and a citadel, and it is the gateway to the Cap de Creus headland. Empuriabrava, a few minutes south, is unlike anywhere else on the coast: a residential marina built on a grid of navigable canals, where a great many houses have a mooring instead of a drive.

That canal layout is worth mentioning when you book. Addresses in Empuriabrava are given as sector and street names that mean nothing without local knowledge, and the bridges mean two houses that look adjacent on a map can be a long way apart by road. A location pin removes the problem entirely.

The drive is about two hours up the AP-7 past Figueres, then the C-260. Empuriabrava also has a well-known skydiving centre, and we do a steady trade in early-morning runs out for jump slots and evening returns — both perfectly normal bookings at fixed prices.

Salou and Cambrils sit side by side on the Costa Dorada, twenty minutes past Tarragona and about an hour and twenty from the airport. Salou is the resort town — Llevant beach, the seafront promenade, and the cluster of hotels serving PortAventura just inland. Cambrils, five minutes further, is quieter, built around a working fishing harbour and known for its restaurants.

Almost everyone arriving here is either a family with a lot of luggage or a group, which is why the V-Class van is the vehicle we send most often on this route. Eight seats and a full-height boot handle four sets of suitcases plus a pushchair without anyone holding a bag on their knees for eighty minutes.

The train from Barcelona to Salou involves changing at Sants and then at Tarragona or Reus, and the regional service is slow. With children and cases, the direct car is a different kind of journey. We drop at the hotel entrance, including the PortAventura resort hotels inside the park complex.

Questions about this route

Sitges is the nearest of the coastal towns to the airport, about half an hour along the C-32 through the Garraf tunnels. That short journey is why it works as a base for people who want a beach but still need Barcelona within reach — and why it fills up completely during Carnival, Pride and the film festival.

The old town around the Sant Bartomeu church is narrow and partly pedestrianised. Hotels along the Passeig de la Ribera and in the newer streets are direct drop-offs; for the little streets behind the church we get as close as the car is allowed, which is normally a couple of minutes' walk.

During Carnival in February the centre closes to traffic altogether for the parades, and the same happens on several nights during the October film festival. If you are arriving on one of those days, tell us — we know which perimeter streets stay open and where the drop-off point moves to.

Tarragona was the capital of Roman Hispania and it still shows: an amphitheatre cut into the slope above the beach, a circus running under the modern streets, city walls you can walk along, and a UNESCO listing covering the lot. It is an hour and a quarter from the airport down the AP-7, and much less visited than it deserves.

The Part Alta, the old upper town, is a maze of narrow streets around the cathedral where cars mostly cannot go. We drop at the Rambla Nova or the Portal del Roser depending on where you are staying — both leave a short, flat walk. The newer parts of the city and the seafront at El Miracle are direct drop-offs.

Tarragona's port also takes cruise ships, and it is a common alternative embarkation point to Barcelona. If your ship sails from here rather than from Moll Adossat, the transfer from El Prat is about eighty minutes and we time it against your boarding window.

A courier company collects your parcel, takes it to a depot, sorts it, and delivers it tomorrow. A taxi takes it from your hand to the other address and nothing happens to it in between. For anything urgent — signed contracts, passports and visa paperwork, architectural drawings, spare parts that have stopped a job, keys to a flat where the guest is standing outside — that difference is the whole point.

Bulky items are where a taxi beats a courier bike outright. The V-Class swallows things a motorbike simply cannot take — display materials for a trade fair, catering equipment, a case of wine, a suitcase a hotel guest left behind. If it fits in the van and it is legal, we will move it.

Tossa sits behind the Vila Vella, the only fortified medieval town still standing on the Catalan coast, and the approach matters. From Lloret the GI-682 coast road is spectacular and full of hairpins — beautiful in daylight, tiring at night or if anyone in the car gets travel sick. The inland approach via Llagostera is a few minutes longer and much gentler. Tell us which you would rather have.

The old town itself is walled and largely pedestrian. We drop at the closest vehicle point, normally on Avinguda Costa Brava or by the Plaça de les Nacions, which leaves a short walk of a few minutes to most hotels inside the walls. Hotels on the seafront and in the newer part of town are direct drop-offs.

Out of season Tossa is very quiet and public transport thins out considerably — the last bus connection back towards Barcelona can be early in the evening. If you are visiting between November and March, a pre-booked car is often the only practical way in and out.
