Official black and yellow Barcelona taxi for airport transfers

Landing at Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) and wondering how to get from Barcelona Airport to the city centre? The airport sits about 15 km south-west of the city centre, and you have four realistic ways to cover that distance. This guide compares them honestly so you can choose what fits your arrival time, luggage and group size.

1. Private airport taxi (pre-booked transfer)

A pre-booked transfer is the door-to-door option. Your driver tracks the flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and takes you straight to your address. The price is fixed when you book, so traffic or a late landing does not change it. Our transfers start from €39, with a saloon for up to three or four passengers and a Mercedes V-Class van for larger groups (+€25). Baby and child seats are available for €10.

Best for: families, groups, late-night arrivals, heavy luggage and anyone who wants no surprises. See our airport taxi service and prices.

2. Street taxi from the rank

Official black-and-yellow taxis wait outside both terminals. They run on the meter, with airport and luggage supplements added, so the final fare depends on traffic, time of day and your exact destination. Queues can build up at peak hours and in summer.

Best for: solo travellers or couples arriving at a quiet time without a booking.

3. Aerobus

The Aerobus is the express shuttle bus between both terminals and Plaça de Catalunya, with stops at Plaça d’Espanya and Gran Via. The ride takes roughly 35 minutes in normal traffic. It is good value for one or two people, but you still need to get from the bus stop to your hotel with your bags.

Best for: light travellers staying near Plaça de Catalunya or Plaça d’Espanya.

4. Metro and train

Metro line L9 Sud serves both terminals and connects with the rest of the network, although reaching the old town usually means one or two changes. The R2 Nord commuter train leaves from Terminal 2 only and runs to Sants and Passeig de Gràcia; from Terminal 1 you need the free shuttle bus to T2 first. Check the operators’ websites for current fares and timetables.

Best for: budget travellers with little luggage and time to spare.

Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?

The two terminals are about 4 km apart and linked by a free shuttle bus. Check your booking before you travel and tell your driver which terminal you arrive at. With a pre-booked transfer we follow your flight number, so we know where and when to meet you.
