Thirty minutes from the airport — the closest proper beach town to Barcelona
Sitges is the nearest of the coastal towns to the airport, about half an hour along the C-32 through the Garraf tunnels. That short journey is why it works as a base for people who want a beach but still need Barcelona within reach — and why it fills up completely during Carnival, Pride and the film festival.
The old town around the Sant Bartomeu church is narrow and partly pedestrianised. Hotels along the Passeig de la Ribera and in the newer streets are direct drop-offs; for the little streets behind the church we get as close as the car is allowed, which is normally a couple of minutes’ walk.
During Carnival in February the centre closes to traffic altogether for the parades, and the same happens on several nights during the October film festival. If you are arriving on one of those days, tell us — we know which perimeter streets stay open and where the drop-off point moves to.
About thirty minutes on the C-32 through the Garraf tunnels — the shortest coastal transfer we do.
It needs a change at Barcelona Sants and takes over an hour in total. The direct car is half that, though the train is cheaper for solo travellers.
